I love when families show up in their everyday favorites but there are plenty of resources on Pinterest and the like if you need inspiration for a more polished and coordinated look.

tips:

• Start with one outfit you love and build everyone else's outfits around it.

• Coordinate, don't match. A complimentary look will creates more dimension than everyone wearing the same color. Start with 2–4 complementary colors.

• Mix textures & incorporate layers. Denim, linen, knits, corduroy, cotton, etc. add visual interest.

• Neutrals photograph beautifully: cream, ivory, tan, beige, denim, soft blue, sage, dusty pink, brown, and muted greens.

• Avoid neon and very bright colors, which can reflect color onto faces and be distracting.

• Avoid large logos, characters, and busy graphics. Small/simple patterns are fine.

• Think about movement. Dresses, skirts, loose tops, and layers can photograph beautifully when kids move and play. Dress in clothing you’re comfortable both standing, sitting and moving in, that does not require frequent adjustment.If kids are uncomfortable in their outfit, it will likely show in the photos.

• Consider shoes. Your whole bodies will be photographed. Clean, simple shoes or barefoot (if appropriate) usually photograph better than athletic shoes with bright colors.

• Bloomers or cartwheel shorts under dresses for babies/young girls are recommended.

• Maybe most importantly—don't wait until the day of the session to try on your kids' clothes!

My default is to photograph the family as a whole, the siblings, the parents, and solo shots of each child. If things are flowing we can sneak in one-on-ones of each kid with each parent too. If you prefer to not have adults in the photos I am happy to photograph just your child or children solo and/or with siblings. If you have specific focus feel free to let me know before we begin!

I love dogs and when they join! If you bring your pooch having an extra adult tag along is handy to help manage and/or pull them out for a few if they get too distracted.

These sessions are intended for small groups. That can be parents & kids, or (one pair of) grandparents & your children but not parent’s, grandparents & grandchilren all together. Could be a great gift idea!

Please do not prepare/prompt your kids to say “cheese”! Come ready to play and love on each other— less pressure creates genuine photos.

These sessions are limited and cannot be rescheduled unless there is an opening earlier or later on the schedule that you can shift to.

Images will be delivered on the third Monday following your session (about two weeks).

All images receive basic editing; color correction, adjustments to exposure, contrast, cropping etc. Retouching of skin, hair or clothing can be done for $5 per image.

Yes! Each purchase of a digital collection includes a personal print release, allowing you to print and share your images for personal use at your consumer lab of choice.
